Noted blood donor Arjun Mainali, who went missing after posting an emotional Facebook status on early Monday, has been found dead.
Mainali who earned fame by donating 102 liters of his blood during his life apparently committed suicide by self-immolation over domestic dispute.
He was found self-immolated inside a rented car in the park situated at Latta Nature Preserve in North Carolina, USA, informed Purushottam Dhakal, a non-resident Nepali based in America.
“I am shocked to hear that Arjun Prasad Mainali, a renowned blood donor who always helped and encouraged people in their every doom and gloom, was found self-immolated inside a rented car in Quest Park in North Carolina,” Dhakal posted on his Facebook account.
According to Dhakal, Mainali’s body was found badly burnt inside a car. He had left for this park in a rented car early morning today due to family tension.
He had gone to the USA to participate in the annual program of the American Association of Blood Bank in 2000. He had since been living in America.
In 2009, the American Red Cross had honored him with The Good Neighbor award. He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.
