Nepal suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Malaysia in the semifinals of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup held in Malaysia on Friday.
With this defeat, Nepali women cricket team's journey to the ACC Women's Asia Cup 2024 has come to an end.
Chasing the 116-run target set by Nepal, Malaysia reached it losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Elsa Hunter topped the score with 69 not-out runs including six fours off 53 balls followed by Mahirah Izzati Ismail with 16 runs. Mas Elysa and Wan Julia contributed 13 and 11 runs, respectively.
In reply, Sita Rana Magar and Kabita Joshi grabbed two wickets each for Nepal. Similarly, Kabita Kunwar and Rubina Chhetry Belbashi took one wicket each.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Nepal notched up 115 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Skipper Indu Barma topped the score with 29 runs including two fours off 37 balls, followed by Dolly Bhatta with 25 runs. Similarly, Kabita Kunwar and Rubina Chhetry Belbase collected, 23 and 20 runs, respectively. The other batters could not reach double-digit runs.
On the bowling side, Mahirah Izzati Ismail took two wickets and Winifred Duraisingam grabbed one wicket for Malaysia.
