Three Indian students arrive Jumla to study MBBS

Three students from India have arrived in Nepal to study Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Jumla.

This Academy has got a quota of 50 students to study MBBS from this year. Among them, Jumla welcomed three students from India, a neighboring country of Nepal.

There are one male and two female students among those who came from India to pursue MBBS degree. Sakshi Gupta, Kartike Mishra and Kasturi Singh are going to study at Karnali Institute of Health Sciences in Jumla.  

Of them, two students are from Jammu and Kashmir while the other student is from Allahpur, Uttar Pradesh.

It has been three years since the Academy started teaching MBBS and it is going to be the fourth batch.

The institute got a quota of 20 people in the first year and enrolled 30 students each in the next two years. Since this year, the Medical Education Commission has given a quota of 50 students.

Karnali in international network
Karnali Academy of Health Sciences is sharing experiences with Sunway Medical Center under Sunway University of Malaysia. Accordingly, five staffers including MDs and nurses will go to Malaysia for training in the next few months and some will come to Karnali for practice.

A professor from the Houston Medical School in the US will also contribute to the Academy.

Similarly, there is collaboration with Memorial University of Canada for research and MDGP programs. The process has been initiated to exchange teachers and professors between the two institutions.

According to the Academy, initiatives are being taken to establish a research center for medicinal herbs in collaboration with Jiujiang Medical University, Jiujiang City, China.
