A wife was found murdered in a house and her husband succumbed to his injures in Belbari Municiplity-1 in Morang in the wee hours of Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation of the police shows the husband may have committed suicide after murdering his wife, according to DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal, the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Morang.

Sixty-year-old Bam Bahadur Limbu of Belbari-1 is found to have committed suicide after killing his wife Gita Limbu, 45.

“Gita’s body was found in the house with bruises around 1:50 am today.  Her husband was found lying with a knife injuries to his neck,” said DSP Dahal, “Bam Bahadur breathed his last in the course of treatment at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar.”

The domestic disputes may have led to the incident, according to Dahal.

“The husband and wife often had heated arguments over household issues in the past,” he said, “The preliminary investigation shows the husband may have killed self after killing his wife. The investigation is continuing.”

It was their second marriage for both of them, and perhaps the baggage of past experiences added fuel to their disagreements about domestic matters, according to DSP Dahal.

“They used to stay in a rented room in Belbari-1 and their work relied on daily wages,” he said, “They also had a son of around seven years.”

The minor was spared unharmed, said DSP Dahal.  “We are also trying to reach out to their previous families to gain a better understanding of their situation.”
