Young woman found murdered in Dharan is a 12th grader

Parents identified the body of the deceased

The body of a young woman who was found murdered in Dharan Sub Metropolitan City, Sunsari has been identified.

The body of a young woman was found with her throat slit in a secluded place between BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and Depot Secondary School in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-18 on Wednesday afternoon.

Sunsari police said that the dead body belonged to Sumana Shrestha, the 21-year-old daughter of Mahendra Shrestha, a resident of Dharan-16.

The parents came and identified the body on Wednesday evening. "We are conducting further investigation into the case," DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari of District Police Office Sunsari told Nepalkhabar, "We will release more details related to this incident later."

According to DSP Nawaraj Malla, the head of the Area Police Office, Dharan, the girl was studying in grade 12 in a college in Dharan. "It is not clear why she was killed," said Malla, "We have proceeded with further investigation into the case." The parents of the deceased girl are coming here to lodge an FIR today.

According to DSP Bhandari, who is also the Information Officer of the District Police Office, Sunsari, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. Those involved in the incident will be arrested soon. We will give more details on this matter later," he said.

Some people in the area are absconding following the incident. The police said that an investigation has been started against them.

Around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, a woman saw the dead body of the girl while grazing her goats. The police reached the spot after the dead body was found lying in a ditch on the side of the road. The police said that a knife was also found a few meters away from the body.

The girl's body has been kept at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for post-mortem. The police said that further investigation of the incident has been started with the help of a trained dog.
