Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ramesh Kharel has quit the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by Rabi Lamichhane over a row in the party.
The central disciplinary commission of the party had sought a clarification from Kharel after the latter made critical remarks against party President Lamichhane.
Instead of submitting a letter of clarification, Kharel tendered his resignation from the party.
“There is no point in sticking to the party. I have already tendered my resignation,” Kharel told Nepalkhabar.
Kharel clarified in the letter that he decided to quit the party after realizing the inconsistency between the party line and its set objectives rather than submitting a letter of clarification to the disciplinary commission.
He stated that he will make public the details through social networking sites the reasons for tendering his resignation.
Kharel was not holding any key post in the party. He was not active in the party after he faced a defeat in the by-elections held in Bara last year. He even turned down the offer of the post of a central member of the party.
The central disciplinary commission sought a clarification from Kharel after he lambasted party President Lamichhane.
