Arika Gurung clinches gold and silver in US Open Karate

Arika Gurung.

Arika Gurung, who won a silver medal in the 19th Asian Games, has secured a gold and a silver medal in the US Open International Karate Championship 2024.

Gurung, who won the gold medal in the U-21 68 kg category, was limited to the silver medal after she lost the match to an American player 3-2 in the US open category above 68 kg.

Gurung, who previously won the gold medal in the U-21 68 kg category at the US Open, went on to compete in the open category above 68 kg.

She fought hard but ultimately came in second place, taking home the silver medal after a close match against the American player (3-2).

Earlier, Gurung clinched the gold medal in the U-21 68 kg category held in Texas, America last night.

She had reached the finals in both the U-21 68 kg category and open category above 68 kg.

Arika had won the silver medal at the 19th Asian Games in Karate held in Hangzhou, China in 2023.
