Ireland ‘A’ inflicts a humiliating 114-run defeat on Nepal in ODI series

Ireland secures title one match ahead of three-match ODI series

Visiting Ireland ‘A’ has inflicted a 114-run humiliating defeat on Nepal ‘A’ in the second unofficial ODI series held in Kirtipur on Friday.

With this win, Ireland ‘A’ managed to secure the title one match ahead of the three-match ODI series.

Nepal was bowled out for 60 runs in the 16.5 overs while it was chasing the 175-run target set by Ireland ‘A’.

Matthew Humphreys took the highest six wickets including a maiden over giving away eight runs. Similarly, Fionn Hand and Thomas Mayes grabbed two wickets each to stop the home team from reaching the target.

Chasing the target, Nepal's Bhim Sarki took 17 runs including two fours and one six while Binod Bhandari made 16 runs. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Ireland ‘A’ bowled out Nepal ‘A’ in 38.4 overs.

Gavin Hoey topped the score with a half century including five fours and two sixes off 59 deliveries. Captain Neil Rock made 45 runs including three fours and three sixes off 38 balls while Liam McCarthy and Peter Moor contributed 35 and 17 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could not double-digit runs.

On the bowling side, Rijan Dhakal and Shahab Alam grabbed three wickets each giving away 30 and 35 runs, respectively. Mousom Dhakal and Kamal Airee took two wickets and one wicket, respectively to restrict the opponent to 174 runs.

Matthew Humphreys is declared the Player of the Match.

Ireland had won the first match of the series by 21 runs. In earlier T20 series, Ireland 'A' had secured its win with 2-1 against Nepal.
