President Paudel urges Emir Al Thani to help rescue Bipin Joshi

President Ramchandra Paudel has urged Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to take the initiative to rescue Bipin Joshi.

President Paudel raised the issue of Nepali student Joshi during the bilateral meeting held at Sheetal Niwas with Emir Al Thani who arrived on a two-day state visit to Nepal on Tuesday.

Responding to President Paudel’s request, Emir Al Thani said that his government has been making efforts for the rescue of Bipin Joshi, said Political Advisor to the President, Sunil Bahadur Thapa.

“The President urged Qatari Emir to take the initiative for the search and rescue of Bipin Joshi. In response, Qatari Emir said that the Qatari government is making efforts for the rescue of Bipin Joshi,” said Thapa.

Ten Nepali students who went to Israel on a Learn and Earn program were killed and Bipin Joshi went missing in the inhumane attack carried out by the Palestine militant group, Hamas, and Bipin Joshi went missing, on October 7, 2023.

During the meeting, President Paudel lauded Qatar saying that the experience gained by Qatar is exemplary for the development of Nepal. 

The meeting held between President Paudel and Emir Al Thani also discussed the issues ranging from the climate change to Nepal’s contribution to the FIFA World Cup.

Emir Al Thani headed to Sheetal Niwas to hold a bilateral meeting with President Paudel after he arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport. He had landed at TIA at 3:2 pm, leading a 150-member jumbo delegation.

President Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha among other ministers had reached the TIA to welcome Al Thani.

Emir Al Thani has headed to Soaltee Hotel for a state banquet hosted by President Paudel in honor of the Emir.

The distinguished guest from Qatar is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister ‘Prachanda’ before wrapping his two-day state visit to Nepal on Wednesday, according to the Foreign Ministry.
