Teenage girl shot at while returning home from school in Jhapa

A 12th grader girl has been shot at in Damak Municipality-5 of Jhapa district on Friday afternoon.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishna Kumar Chand, 18-year-old Anika Adhikari sustained critical injuries after being shot at in front of the senior citizens' building while she was returning home after taking the 12th grade exam from her school.

Critically injured Adhikari has been admitted to Life Line Hopital in Damak. Anika, who originally hails from Limchungbung Rural Municipality-3, Udayapur, is the 12th grader studying at Himalayan Secondary School based at Damak-2.

She has shrapnel-like injuries to her stomach. However, they are yet to be verified. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident so far. Police said they are investigating the case, said DSP Chand.

Anika was staying in a rented room in the house of Kamal Budhathoki in Damak Municipality-5.
