Karnali Chief Minister Kandel to take vote of confidence today

Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yamlal Kandel, is taking the vote of confidence today. Chief Minister Kandel will take the vote of confidence at the province assembly meeting at 3 pm.

Kandel is taking the vote of confidence two weeks after being appointed as the Chief Minister of the province on April 9.

The Province Assembly Secretariat registered a petition regarding the vote of confidence sent by Chief Minister Kandel on Tuesday itself.

According to the power-sharing deal sealed between the ruling parties, CPN (UML) has got four ministries including the Chief Minister while CPN (Maoist Center) has received four ministries.

Maoist Center has got the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment and the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy Development.

Similarly, UML will lead the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives including the Chief Minister.

In the 40-member Karnali Province Assembly, there are 13 lawmakers from Maoist Center, 10 from UML, one from Unified Socialist, main opposition Nepali Congress has 14 members, Rastriya Prajantra Party one and one independent lawmaker.

Votes of 21 lawmakers are required to secure the vote of confidence. Kandel is very likely to secure the vote of confidence as he commands the majority of 24 lawmakers.
