Brazilian football legend Pelé, who is battling colon cancer, has reached out to his fans through social media Instagram, urging all to remain calm and positive.
A hospital statement was posted on Pelé's Instragram account on Saturday following media reports that the football legend was under palliative care after chemotherapy stopped working on him and his situation was worsening.
Along with the hospital statement on Instagram, Pelé has shared in the description of the same post, "My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive. I'm strong, with lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual."
Meanwhile, the hospital statement, which is in Portugese, stated that Pelé is still undergoing treatment and his state of health remains stable. "He has also had a good response to care for the respiratory infection, with no worsening in the last 24 hours," the hospital statement undersigned by doctors involved in the footballer's treatment said.
Pelé has also thanked the entire medical and nursing team for all the care he received.
The Brazilian footballer added, "I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy. And watch Brazil in the World Cup too!"
