Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane's preparations for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States hit a snag after the US Embassy in Kathmandu denied his visa application.
Mentioning on his Facebook on Wednesday, Lamichhane informed that he has been denied his visa application by the US Embassy.
“US Embassy repeated what it had done to me in 2019,” Lamichhane mentioned on Facebook, “My visa application to play T20 World Cup in America and West Indies was denied.”
Issuing a press note on last Wednesday, Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) informed that it was making preparations to send leg spinner Lamichhane to play T20 World Cup.
“All the processes including visa application for cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to participate in the T20 World Cup in the United States of America and West Indies have been initiated,” CAN Secretary Paras Khadka had said.
Sandeep was making preparations to participate in the T20 World Cup after the High Court acquitted him of rape charges.
Similarly, CAN lifted suspensions on Lamichhane allowing him to participate in domestic and international cricket matches after the Patan High Court cleared him of all rape charges on May 15.
