The Ministry of Youth and Sports has written a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking the latter’s assistance to ease visa application process for cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.

Minister for Youth and Sports Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, following the consultation with CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, on Thursday wrote a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting the latter’s assistance to facilitate the visa application process for cricketer Lamichhane.

“We have done all the works at the Sports Ministry level to ensure Lamichhane’s eligibility for travel,” said Minister Shrestha, “We will do if anything left.”

Now, the Foreign Ministry will take forward the remaining process to this end. The US Embassy in Katmandu on Wednesday called cricketer Lamichhane for an interview and denied visa to him.

T20 World Cup is being held in America and West Indies from June 1.

Nepal, which had played World Cup a decade ago under the captaincy of Paras Khadka, has sent a 15-member team to participate in the World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Paudel. The Nepali team is currently playing practice matches at Houston, USA.

Nepal is in group ‘D’ alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Netherlands. Nepal is playing a World Cup match with Netherlands on June 4.

Similarly, Nepal will take on Sri Lanka on June 11, South Africa on June 14 and Bangladesh on June 16.
