Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane expressed happiness stating that the country’s dream to participate in the ICC World Cup has been fulfilled.
Taking to social media on Monday, Lamichhane said, “I am really happy to see that my country’s dream has been fulfilled, even though my dream remains unfulfilled.”
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) took the initative to send Lamichhane to play ICC World Cup after the high court acquitted him of rape charges.
However, he has not been able to make it after the US Embassy denied his visa application. The government is making efforts at the high level to make visa available for Lamichhane.
Amidst visa uncertainty, Lamichhane celebrates on social media stating that Nepal's dream to participate in the ICC World Cup has come true.
In a bid to grant Lamichhane American visa, officials including CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand, earlier in the day, met with Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha and urged him to take the initiative to ensure Lamichhane’s eligibility for travel.
In response, Foreign Minister Shrestha said that he would take the initiative to this effect on Tuesday.
