Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader of Gandaki Province, Surendra Pandey, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of the province.

Gandaki Province Chief Dilli Raj Bhatta appointed Pandey as the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province amidst a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.

Pandey became the Chief Minister for the second time today following the second general elections.

A joint bench of justices Kumar Regmi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel on Monday directed to appoint Pandey as the Chief Minister in his capacity as the leader of the largest party.

Outgoing Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari was relieved of his post after the Supreme Court invalidated his trust vote.

NC is the largest party with 27 seats in Gandaki Province. He has to take the vote of confidence in the next 30 days.

Thirty-one lawmakers are required to secure the trust vote.

In the 60-member Provincial Assembly, there are 27 lawmakers from NC, 22 from CPN (UML), eight including speaker from CPN (Maoist Center), and one independent lawmaker.
