PM Prachanda to attend Modi’s oath ceremony

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is set to participate in the oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Prachanda has been invited to attend the Modi’s oath taking ceremony, according to the Prime Minister’s secretariat.

Prime Minister Modi’s third straight term was set in motion after the parties of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unanimously passed a resolution electing him as their leader in a meeting on Wednesday (June 5).

With this, Mr. Modi is going to be the second Indian to take oath as the Prime Minister for the third straight time after Jawaharlal Nehru.

Modi is making preparations to stake a claim for the post of Prime Minister on Friday and take the oath of office and secrecy on Sunday evening, according to NDTV. Earlier, it was reported that the oath-taking for Modi was scheduled for Saturday.

Then Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushil Koirala, had gone to New Delhi when Modi took the oath as the Prime Minister of India for his first term in 2014.

Modi, who is currently serving as the acting Prime Minister of India, has invited heads of state of South Asia including Prime Minister Prachanda. According to Indian media outlets, the invitations have been sent to President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay, and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth.

Since the BJP-led NDA failed to garner majority in the Lok Sabha elections this time, Modi laying a claim to the Prime Minister with the support of his allies – Telugu Desam Party (TDP) led by Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU).

Opposition alliance INDIA- 234 seats

Congress – 99

Samajwadi Party – 37

Trinamool Congress (TMC) – 29

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) - 22

Similarly, the opposition alliance INDIA who won 234 seats has also initiated talks with TDP and JDU, according to media reports.
