Five mules trapped in the suspension bridge over the Karnali River have been rescued, acting Chief District Officer (CDO) of Dailekh, Ganesh Prasad Koirala said.

Koirala said that the security personnel from the nearby area police stations have rescued five among those trapped in the bridge.

"Security officers have rescued five among those trapped in the bridge," he said, "All the mules will be rescued in a while."

Fourteen mules were got stuck in the bridge after two suspenders (support cables) of the suspension bridge over the Karnali River snapped, all of a sudden.

The mules, only the means of transportation in the hilly region of Karnali Province, were carrying materials and crossing the bridge at around 10 am on Sunday morning.

Koirala informed that the two support cables, also known as suspenders, of the suspension bridge connecting the Aathbis-4 side in Dailekh to Binayak Municipality (Kalekada) in Achham snapped suddenly when many mules started crossing the bridge at the same time.
