India has booked berth in the Super 8 by clinching the third consecutive win against America in the group stage match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Chasing the 111-run target set by America, India reached it in 18.2 overs losing three wickets.

Suryakumar Yadav topped the score with a half-century including two fours and two sixes off 49 deliveries and remained not out. Similarly, Shivam Dube made 31 not-out runs off 35 balls while Rishabh Pant and captain Rohit Sharma contributed 18 and three runs, respectively.

On the bowling side, Saurabh Netravalkar took two wickets while Ali Khan grabbed one wicket.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, America notched up 110 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Nitish Kumar's 27-run score remained the highest for America. He scored two fours and one six off 23 balls. Similarly, Steven Taylor hit 24 runs followed by Corey Anderson with 15 runs. Captain Aaron Jones and Shadley van Schalkwyk took 11 runs each and Harmeet Singh contributed 10 runs. The other batsmen could not score significant runs.

In reply, Arshdeep Singh took the highest four wickets followed by Hardik Pandya with two wickets while Axar Patel grabbed one wicket.

This is the first consecutive defeat faced by co-host country America in the group stage match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

If America defeats Ireland, it will also reach the Super 8.

India is atop the points table with six points from three consecutive wins while America is in the second position with four points from two wins and one loss. Similarly, Pakistan and Canada are in the third and fourth positions, respectively. Despite having equal two points, Pakistan is ahead of Canada based on run rate.

Ireland is at the bottom of the group without points after losing both matches. While Ireland has yet to play two matches, the rest of the teams will play one match each in the group stage match.

A match between Ireland and America is scheduled for Friday. If America wins this match, it will also reach the Super 8.
