A jewelry shop has been robbed at a gunpoint at Kholesimal in Kalika Municipality-6, Chitwan.

An unidentified gang of robbers barged into the jewelry shop run by Binod Sunar, a local, around 8 pm on Saturday and decamped with 3 kilograms of gold, 35 grams of sliver and Rs 200,000 in cash, the District Police Office, Chitwan informed Nepalkhabar.

The robbers have also taken away a CCTV camera installed at the shop.

A team of police, who reached the incident site following the robbery, recovered 776.81 grams of gold during the investigation, SP Bhawesh Rimal of DPO, Chitwal said.

While Kholesimal bazaar remains closed on the first day of every Nepali month, the jewelry shop was open on Saturday.

“The robbery took place when the owner was away from the shop,” said Rimal, “There were only the staffers. We are investigating the case.”
