England booked a berth in Super Eight after Scotland lost to Australia in the last group stage match from Group B under the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
In the group stage match held on Sunday, Australia defeated Scotland by five wickets paving the way for England to reach the Super Eight.
Australia reached the Super Eight by remaining unbeaten from Group B. Despite scoring equal five points, England made it to the top eight teams based on the run rate. Scotland and England notched up five points each from two wins, one loss and shared one point each after the match was canceled due to rain.
With this, Scotland, Namibia and Oman have crashed out of the ongoing World Cup.
Chasing the 181-run target set by Scotland, Australia reached it in 19.4 overs losing five wickets.
Travis Head topped the score with 68 runs including five fours and four sixes off 49 balls followed by Marcus Stoinis with 59 runs while Tim David contributed 24 runs. The batsmen could not score double-digit runs.
Safyaan Sharif and Mark Watt took two wickets each while Brad Wheal grabbed one wicket for Scotland.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Scotland notched up 180 runs losing five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Brandon McMullen topped the score with 60 runs followed by Richie Berrington with 42 runs while George Munsey contributed 35 runs.
Similarly, Matthew Cross scored 18 runs while the other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.
On the bowling side, Glenn Maxwell took two wickets while Adam Zampa, Nathan Ellis and Ashton Agar grabbed one wicket each for Australia.
