Four missing as landslide washes away three houses in Lamjung

Four people went missing after a landslide washed away three houses in Lamung district on Tuesday night.

According to the District Police Office, Lamjung four people went missing after a landslide washed away three houses in Kwhlosothar Rural Municipality-3, Bagum, last night.

The houses of Rudramani Gurung, and his daughter-in-law Pancha Kumari Gurung were washed away by the landslide triggered by heavy rains, informed Police Inspector Meghnath Chapagain.

"Rudramani, his daughter-in-law Pancha Kumari, and two daughters of Pancha Kumari – Ichchha and Namrata – have gone missing in the landslide," Inspector Chapagain told Nepalkhabar, "A rescue team is carrying out a search and rescue operation."

A landslide triggered by torrential rains coming down from above washed way two houses and a cowshed around 1 am today.

A rescue team led by DSP Min Bahadur Ghale has left for the incident site on Wednesday morning.

"A rescue team under the command of DSP Min Bahadur Ghale from the DPO, Lamjung has left for the incident site," said Inspector Chapagain, "Another team from Maling Police Post is already carrying out the rescue works."

The incident site is roughly 25 kilometers outside of Besisahar, the district headquarters.
