Two passenger buses were washed away by a landslide triggered by incessant rains at Simaltal in Bharatpur Metropotan City-29 in Citwan district in the wee hours of Friday.
Scores of passengers are feared to have been killed after the landslide washed away two passenger buses into the Trishuli River at 3 am today, said DSP Bhesh Raj Rijal of District Police Office, Citwan.
One bus was coming to Kathmandu while the other bus (Ganapati Deluxe) was heading to Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat, when the landslide washed away them into the Trishuli River.
"Two buses were washed away by the landslide. Over 50 people have gone missing in the swollen Trishuli River," said DSP Rijal.
As many as 35 police personnel from Nepal Police and Nepal Armed Police Force and seven divers from Disaster Management Training School have been deployed in the rescue of the missing people.
With the debris brought the landslide, the Narayangadh-Muglin road section has been disrupted.
