Managing Director of Nepali Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising has attributed the disputes surrounding the dedicated and trunk lines to the industrialists.

Speaking at the meeting of the Public Account Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) on Friday, Managing Director (MD) Ghimire claimed that the industrialists have not challenged the bill for using dedicated and trunk lines hinting that they find it fair and reasonable.

Ghising said that industrialists can make an appeal to the review committee and that the committee will sort out the issue after a review.

Only industrialist Pashupati Murarka filed a case regarding the claimed bill at the NEA and that the Authority has already dealt with this issue.

Ghising asked why the industrialists abstain from making an appeal against the claimed bill if they are not satisfied with it.

“If they are not satisfied with the claimed bills, they can make an appeal to the review committee. The review committee will take a final call following a review,” said Ghising, “The decision on the appeal made by Murarka is at the review committee.”

Since the two cabinet meetings, Public Account Committee and the court have scrapped the case, the NEA will recover the arrears under any circumstances.

He went on to say that the bills have been issued jointly by the Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Board.

Out of 340 industries that used dedicated and trunk lines, only 61 industries have not paid the electricity bills and that 90 cases filed at the court have been scrapped.
