Eight killed, four injured as landslide buries four houses in Baglung

Eight people have lost their lives and four others sustained injuries in the landslides that occurred in Badigad Rural Municipality-9 and 10 on Tuesday.

Four houses – one in Darlingkhola (ward 9) and three houses in Arupata (ward 10) – were washed away by landslides triggered by incessant rains.

According to Baglung Chief District Officer, Netra Prasad Subedi, eight bodies have been retrieved from the landslides that occurred in two wards. The rescue operation is underway.

The deceased have been identified as Bidhan Pariyar, 15, and Ganga Basnet, 14, residents of Badigadh Rural Municipality-9.  

Similarly, twins –seven-year-old Malati Budha and Madhu Budha, Manoj Budha, 13, Aman Budha, 12, six-year-old daughter of Sanju BK and Maitidevi BK, 59, lost their lives in Badigadh Rural Municipality-10, confirmed Subedi.

The condition of two among those injured in the landslide is said to be critical.

Sangita Budha, 46, Sumitra BK, 59, Sita Thapa, 32 and Mangal Singh Budha, 42 are injured. The preparations are underway to airlift them from the incident site for treatment.

A helicopter from Kathmandu has already flown to the incident site from Kathmandu, Province lawmaker Jit Bahadur Sherchan told Nepalkhabar.
