Hundreds of youths staged a demonstration in favor of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising in the federal capital on Monday.
The youths took to the streets against the government accusing the latter of exerting unnecessary pressure on MD Ghising and demanding that he should be allowed to work without hassles.
The demonstrators have alleged that, in the premium tariff dispute, the government is bent on waiving the arrears to be paid by big industries for dedicated and trunk lines usage.
Despite Kulman's laudable role of transforming the NEA into a profit-making corporation, the government is exerting pressure on MD Ghising uncessarily in a prejudiced manner and impeding him from carrying out his regular duties, the protestors said.
Protestors demonstrated shouting slogans and holding placards, reading ‘Recover 22-billion electricity arrears,’ Stop bankrupting NEA’, ‘End authoritarian approach.’
