Chandra Singh Karki, vice chairman of Sarkegad Rural Municipality of Humla, has passed in a road accident.
District Police Office Surkhet informed that Vice Chairman Karki died in a vehicular accident that occurred on Monday afternoon in Bheriganga Municipality-5 of Surkhet while heading to Nepalgunj from Surkhet.
Karnali Province DSP Birendra Bishwakarma informed that 23 other people sustained injuries when the bus, 02-001 Kha 1011, fell into the roadside drain.
"Vice Chairman Karki was seriously injured in the accident," DSP Bishwakarma told Nepalkhabar, "He passed away in the course of treatment at Bheri Hospital of Nepalgunj Medical College in the wee hours of Tuesday."
Karki, 39 was elected as the vice chairman of the Sarkegad Rural Municipality of Humla representing CPN (Maoist Center).
Bishwakarma said that 23 other people injured in the accident are being treated at a local hospital. The condition of all the injured is out of danger.
