14 killed, 17 injured as bus with Indian number plate plunges into Marsyangdi River

Fourteen people have died and 17 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus with the Indian number plate, UP 53 FT 7623, fell into the Marsyangdi River in Anbukhairahani of Tanahun district on Friday morning, the Nepal police said.

"As many as 14 bodies have been retrieved from the accident site and 17 others who sustained injuries have been rescued," Tanahun SP Birendra Bahadur Shahi told Nepalkhabar.

The injured have been taken to Anbukhairahani Hospital. The search for 10 missing people is underway. 

The bus skidded off the road and fell into the river from Ainapahara at 11:30 am while it was heading to Kathmandu from Pokhara with 41 people including driver and co-driver, according to SP Shahi. 

All the passengers traveling in the bus are Indians. They had arrived in Pokhara two days ago from Gorakhpur, India. According to Kaski District Police Chief SP Mohan Thapa, they were heading to Kathmandu after a two-night stay at Majheri Resort in Pokhara.
