The bodies of the Indian tourists who lost their lives in the Marsyangdi bus accident have been airlifted to India.
An aircraft of Indian Air Force airlifted 25 out of 27 bodies to India from Bharatpur Airport, said Assistant Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Ciranjivi Sharma.
Two bodies were taken to India via road, said Sharma. "The bodies of driver and co- driver were taken to India via road as their house was near the Nepal-India border," said Sharma.
The bodies were repatriated following their autopsy conducted at Chitwan Medical College.
Minister of State for Youth and Sports of India, Raksha Nikhil Khadse had arrived to receive the bodies. She landed at Tribhuvan International Airport this morning, went to TU Teaching Hospital to visit the injured before heading to Bharatpur.
Of the total 43 Indian tourists, 27 died and 16 others sustained injuries when a bus with the Indian number plate, UP 53 FT 7623, fell into the Marsyangdi River at Anbukhaireni in Tanahun district at 11:30 am on Friday.
