Two minor girs found dead in banana orchard; mother missing

Two minor girls have been found dead in a banana farm in Morang.

The deceased have been identified as one-year-old daughter Arpana and three-year-old Ayika of Arjun Karki and Asmita Paudel (Karki), residents of Sundarharaincha Municipality-7, Morang.

"Their bodies were found on Saturday evening," DSP Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet of District Police Office Morang told Nepalkhabar, "The mother, 29-year-old Asmita, is missing. We are inquiring about the incident taking the father under control."

Arjun, the father of the two daughers who were found dead, has given a statement that Asmita left the house with her two daughters around 8:30 pm on Friday after a fight between the husband and wife.

"He has also said that his wife used to leave the house when there was a quarrel between them," DSP Basnet said, "The body was found on Saturday evening while he was searching for his daughters and wife who had left the house."

Locals informed the police after the bodies of two girls were found in the banana ochard of local Narayan Neupane near the house.

Arjun, a resident of Pakhribas Municipality-4 Dikure, Dhankuta, along with his wife and two daughters, was staying in Sita Regmi's house at Sundarharaincha-7, Malati Tole, Morang. They were also building their own house near the place where they were staying.

DSP Basnet said that pesticide was found near the place where the girls' bodies were found. There are no external injuries on the girls' body. The police said that although the bodies of the daughters were found, nothing has been revealed about Asmita's whereabouts.

The police have taken the girl's father Arjun under surveillance and started the investigation into the incident.
