Healthworkers providing treatment to ailing locals in diarrhea-hit Nainapur, Banke.
Four people have died of diarrhea and 12 others taken ill in Narainapur in Banke district.
Jayanti Devi Shrivastava, vice chairman of the Narainapur Rural Municipality, informed that four people died in Narainapur-3 due to diarrhea that has been spreading for the past few days. Four people died on Sunday.
"Four people died of diarrhea yesterday after it spread in the village," Vice Chairman Shrivastava told Nepalkhabar, "Twelve people have been taken ill from the epidemic in the village."
Narainapur is a village bordering India. Diarrhea has spread in Gegli village of Narainapur-3.
Vice Chairman Shrivastava informed that 25-year-old Rusa Pasi, wife of Hariram Pasi and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Nandani, 60-year-old Shanti, wife of Mohan Lal Pasi from the same place, and Yusuf, 10 years old son of Sakhawat Ali, died.
Nagendra Kumar Shah, head of the health branch in Narainapur Rural Municipality, confirmed that they've dispatched a team to the village affected by diarrhea and have begun providing medical care to the patients.
Health workers suspect that diarrhea is spreading due to heat and contaminated water.
District Police Office, Banke has said it has not received information about the death of the villagers from diarrhea.
Police Inspector Yam Bahadur Budhamagar of DPO, Banke said that the police have not received any information about the death of people from diarrhea. "We have not been informed about the death of the people from Diarrhea. We will assess the situation and keep you updated,” Budhamagar said.
