Sarlahi Police have apprehended eight individuals in the act of printing fake Nepali bank notes from the Indian border.
According to SP Rabindra Bahadur Singh, they were arrested along with printing machine and other accessories used to print fake currencies from Godaita Municipality-12 borering India on Sunday night.
The arrested are Saugat Thapa Magar, 26, of Chandragiri Municipality, Bijaya Lama, 47, of Kageshwari Manohara Municipality-6, Kathmandu, Sanjaya Rana Magar, 33, of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-1, Kupondole, Amir Khatri of Changunarayan Municipality-5, Bhaktapur, Subodh Kumar Sohi,40, of Sitamadhi Thana Bairganiya Gram Panchayat Pani Tanki, Rajiv Thakur (Pappu), 49, of the same place, Janardan Singh, 32, of Godaita Municipality-12, Madhubani, Sarlahi and Bishal Rai, 37, of Chandrapur, Rautahat.
“Acting on a tip-off that the fake currencies are being printed in a house in Madhubani, a police squad arrested them,” SP Singh told Nepalkhabar, “Some cash, equipment and chemicals used to print bank notes were confiscated from their possession.”
The police team from Area Police Office, Godaita, Police Post, Madhubani, APF Nepal Border Outpost (BOP), Madhubani had reached the incident site.
Fourteen fake notes in 1000 denomination, eight different kinds of chemicals, 95,805 Nepali rupees, 10 mobile sets, one Nepali Scorpio vehicle and two Indian motorcycles.
SP Singh said they are carrying out investigation into the case by taking them on a 10-day remand. “We are investigating how they were printing fake bank notes,” SP Singh said.
