Fast-paced bowler Pratish GC has signed a contract with Biratnagar Kings to play upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL).
In the auction put up in Kathmandu on Sunday, Biratnagar Kings hired GC for Rs 1.5 million. He had been a member in the Nepali team for the last two years.
Pratish GC, a candidate in category A, was being sought by three teams: Kathmandu Gurkhas, Sudurpashchim Royals, and Biratnagar Kings. Ultimately, Biratnagar won the right to hire Pratish through a lottery.
Eight teams are hiring 10 players in the auction put up by the Nepal Cricket Association.
The NPL tournament will take place in Kathmandu from November 30 to December 21. Each of the 16 participating teams will have a marquee player, four foreign players, and one player selected through a talent hunt.
Even though T20 League was held last year, its second edition has not taken place so far.
Nepal Sports Council terminated its contract with the Indian company Seven Three Sports after the latter failed to fulfill its obligations to organize the tournament.
Among marquee players, Kushal Bhurtel has signed a contract with Pokhara Avengers, Karan KC (Kathmandu Gurkhas), Kushal Malla (Chitwan Rhinos), Rohit Paudel (Lumbuni Lions), Sandeep Lamichhane (Biratnagar Kings), Aasif Sheikh (Janakpur Royals), Sompal Kami (Karnali Yaks) and Dipendra Singh Airee has signed a contract with Sudurpashchim Royals.
