A charge sheet has been filed with the Indian police against Nepali citizens protesting the construction of an embankment on the Mahakali River.

Contractor company Arun Construction registered a complaint with Dharchula Police Station, Pithoragarh, against seven Nepalis for pelting stones on the workers involved in building the dam on the Indian side.

The Indian media reported that Arun Construction filed charge sheet against seven unidentified Nepalis.

Darchula locals had protested against India last Sunday when the Indian side began to build a dam, which allegedly alters the course of the Mahakali River towards Nepal.

Stones were pelted from both sides of the border during the show of protest.

As many as four Nepalis were injured from stones pelted from the Indian side.
