The security has been reshuffled following the death of a youth from the police firing in the Sunsari district.
Koshi Province Police Chief DIG Binod Ghimire has been recalled to the police headquarters and DIG Shekhar Khanal has been appointed to his place. DIG Khanal will now head the Koshi Province Police Office. Khanal had been in the police headquarters.
He had been transferred to the police headquarters from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) only 20 days ago.
The Home Ministry has also called back Chief District Office (CDO) Basudev Ghimire and SP Keshab Thebe from the Sunsari district.
Shankhuwasabha CDO Ishwari Prasad Aryal and SP Pushpa Raj Malla of Gautam Buddha International Airport have been assigned to these positions, according to the Home Ministry.
Similarly, DSP Nanda Kishor Mahato has been recalled from the Armed Police Force base in Kaptanganj, with DSP Madan Nath from police headquarters assigned to his place.
One person died and 24 others sustained injuries when security personnel opened fire during the clash between two rival groups at Kaptanganj in Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari, on Sunday night.
The government has formed a five-member panel led by Joint Secretary Bhupendra Thapa to investigate the incident.
An indefinite curfew has been in effect since 7 am today across five places of Diwanganj and Harinagar rural municipalities, where a team of the Nepali Army has been deployed.
