Arjun Kulung Rai has participated in the Hong Kong The North Face 100 Ultra Trail Race, representing Nepal, which kicked off at 10 pm on Friday. Along with him, local Nepali runners from Hong Kong, Yamnath Limbu (Nugo), Dinanath Bagale, Santosh Tamang, and others, are also participating in the race.
This is not the first Hong Kong race for Arjun Kulung Rai, who has achieved success in more than two dozen national and international races while living in Nepal. He had won third prize in last year's Ultra Trail Race. Similarly, he had secured 14th place in the Hong Kong 100 km International Running Challenge.
The three-day The North Face Race has been divided into three parts. In the first phase, a 100 km individual and relay competition were held on Friday, and a 55 and 14 km race are scheduld to be held on December 14 and 15, respectively. As many as 500 people are participating in the race.
The race, which started from Tai Mei Tuk, will pass through Pat Sin Leng, Fanling, Hok Tau, Cloudy Hill, Luk Keng, Tai Po Tau, Yuen Tun Ha, Tai Mo Shan, Ng Tung Chai, and more than 22 mountains, passing the 10th Checkpoint and reaching the final point at the Wishing Tree Wishing Plaza in Tai Po Tai Mei Tung.
The top three men and women who complete the 100-kilometer race will receive HK$15,000, the first runner-up will receive HK$10,000, and the second runner-up will receive HK$5,000.
In addition, various prizes have been arranged for other winners, according to the organizer.
