Karnali beats Chitwan by 21 runs in eliminator to enter qualifier

Karnali Yaks has entered the qualifier by defeating Chitwan Rhinos by 21 runs in the eliminator.

Chitwan Rhinos was restrict to 154 runs with the loss of 9 wickets while it was chasing the 176-run target set by Karnali.

To stop Chitwan from reaching the target, Zeeshan Maqsood took the highest 3 wickets giving away 26 runs followed by Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav with 2 wickets each while Bipin Sharma claimed 1 wicket for Karnali.

Captain Kushal Malla was sent to the pavilion for 21 runs while Bipin Rawal made 18 runs. Similarly, Luc Benkenstein and Sharad Vesawkar contributed 16 and 10 runs, respectively. 

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Wednesday, Karnali Yask notched up 175 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Jaykishan Kolsawala topped the score with 53 runs including 6 fours and 2 sixes off 39 balls followed by William Bosisto with 52 runs while Chadwick Walton scored 46 runs and remained not out. Similarly, Zeeshan Masqsood contributed 14 runs. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

In reply, Sohail Tanvir took the highest two runs followed by Sharad Vesawkar, Ravi Bopara and Kushal Malla grabbed 1 wicket each.

With the win, Karnali has advanced into the second qualifier to be held on Thursday. On the other hand, Chitwan has been eliminated.

Surdurpschim Royals and Janakpur Bolts are locking their horns in the first qualifier. The match will kick off at 1:15 pm today.

The winner of the first qualifier will advance into the final while the loser will have to play with Karnali.
