Nhuchchhe Bahadur Maharjan, the ward chairman of Chandragiri Municipality-12, Kathmandu, has been arrested.
He was arrested by the police on the charge of embezzling funds from the Thamel-based Hariyali Savings and Credit Cooperative Society.
He is the treasurer of the Cooperative.
The District Police Range, Kathmandu, has stated that a team from the Police Circle, Sohrakhutte arrested him.
Maharjan was elected in the 2079 local elections, representing CPN (UML).
