Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the government is investigating the land embezzlement case surrounding Shera Durbar in Nuwakot.

Home Minister Lekhak said this while responding to a question raised in the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Thursday. UML lawmaker Basudev Ghimire had sought a response from the government on this issue in the committee meeting.

The land misappropriation case surrounding Shera Durbar has been raised in the committee. "While making deliberations on the bill, the land issue about Shera Durbar was raised," Home Minister Lekhak said, "A serious investigation is underway into the Shera Durbar land case. If found guilty, an action will be taken as per the law. If that land has been illegally transferred to some person or company, it will be returned."

Earlier, speaking on this issue in the committee meeting, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' had urged the government to investigate the Shera Durbar land issue and return the land if it were illegally taken over by someone else.

Home Minister Lekhak assured the former prime minister that the land would be returned, if found transferred wrongly, following a thorough investigation.
