The Police have arrested three individuals on the charge of looting gold illegally smuggled into Nepal in the Kathmandu Valley.
The arrested are Sujan Nepali, 26, of Panchakanya Rural Municipality-1 and residing in Jhor, Tokha Municipality-1, Kathmandu, Anita Tamang, 32, of Sangachokgadhi Municipality-3, Sindhupalchowk, Chautara, currently staying at Gokarneshwar in Kathmandu, and Lal Bahadur Tamang, 22, of Temal Rural Municipality-1, Kavre, and residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6.
Acting on a tip-off that an undefined gang of people looted gold from a woman who had arrived in Nepal on a Fly Dubai flight on December 29, a joint police team was deployed from the District Police Range, Bhaktapur, and the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
The woman had illegally smuggled the gold into Nepal in the form a pad concealed within her underwear, according to the investigation team.
In the course of investment, the police arrested the trio from various places in the Kathmandu Valley and recovered 436.010 grams of gold, three mobile phone sets, and one motorcycle in possession of them.
They have been kept at the District Police Range, Bhaktapur for necessary investigation and action.
