The mega earthquake that struck Tibet this morning has caused minor damages to houses in the eastern hilly districts of Nepal including Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha and Taplejung.
Police have reported that four houses were partially damaged and one house was completely destroyed due to the earthquake.
According to the Koshi Province Police Office, of the two houses damaged in Okhaldhunga, the house of Indra Bahadur Pariyar of Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality-5, Sirise, was completely damaged.
Police have reported that the residence, office and mess building of the Area Police Office Dobhan in Taplejung were damaged.
The house of Himal Karki of Chuhanchhap, Siddhicharan Municipality-2, Okhaldhunga, Harka Bahadur Khatri of Luruwa, Thulung Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality-7, Solukhumbu, and Ang Ngima Sherpa of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-5, Helajung, sustained minor damages, according to the Province Police Office, Biratnagar.
Police have also reported minor damages to the house of Tenchhedi Sherpa of Kimathanka, Bhot Khola Rural Municipality-1, Sankhuwasabha.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajan Adhikari of the Province Police Office, Biratnagar, said that the investigation into the damage is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the mega earthquake has reached 53 in China so far, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua.
