Ambassador Tumbahangphe presents credentials to RoK Acting President

Ambassador of Nepal to the Republic of Korea (RoK), Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe, presented her Letters of Credence to Mr Choi Sang-mok, Acting President of the Republic of Korea, at a ceremony held at the Government Complex in Seoul on Tuesday, January 7.

After presenting the Letters of Credence, the Ambassador had a courtesy meeting with the Acting President.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tumbahangphe conveyed warm greetings and best wishes of the President of Nepal to the Acting President, wishing him good health and happiness, as well as continued progress and prosperity for the people of the Republic of Korea.

On the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Korea, as well as the need and importance of high-level visits to elevate and further promote the existing level of bilateral relations, the Ambassador expressed sincere hope that the embassy would have an opportunity to facilitate such visits by May 2025, the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul stated in a press release.

Ambassador expressed her sincere commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries during her tenure. She highlighted the significant contribution of more than 100 thousand Nepali workers to the promotion of relations at people's level between the two countries and to the Korean economy as well.

In welcoming Dr Tumbahangphe as Nepal's Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, the Acting President assured her of his full support in carrying out her duties to promote Nepal-Korea relations and wished her a successful tenure.

The Ambassador also extended deepest condolences, through the Acting President, on behalf of the Government of Nepal and on her own, to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent tragic plane accident in the Republic of Korea on 29 December 2024. In response, the Acting President thanked her for the condolences.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Pushpa Raj Bhattarai, Deputy Chief of Mission/Minister Counsellor. The credential presentation ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Mr Cho Tae-yul, the Chief of Protocol, and other high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
