Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala.
The Nepali Public Relations Committee of Nepali Congress in the UK has expressed objection to the programs scheduled for Nepali Congress leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Shekhar Koirala's visit to the UK.
Koirala, who flew to the UK on Thursday, is scheduled to participate in a program to be organized at the House of Commons, Westminster, on January 13. However, the organization close to NC has objected stating that he did not even coordinate with them and refused to attend the program they have organized.
"We regret Koirala's decision to participate in programs organized in various places in the UK without coordination with the Nepali Public Relations Committee, UK, and not to participate in the program organized by it in Feltham, London on Saturday (January 11)," reads a statement issued by the Committee's president, Yubaraj Gurung, "The invitation was handed over to Koirala by the Public Relations Committee upon his arrival at Heathrow Airport in London."
The Committee has accused Koirala of participating only in the programs organized by his faction, thereby insulting party founder president BP Koirala and promoting factionalism.
"Koirala’s participation only in such Koirala-friendly programs will lead to factionalism among the Nepali people abroad," the Committee said.
