President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane has been taken to the custody of the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
Former Home Minister Lamichhane was taken to the Police Range, as per the order of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari sent Lamichhane to the judicial custody.
The accused including Lamichhane have been accused of misappropriating funds from Kathmandu-based Swarnalakshmi Cooperative.
Lamichhane himself turned up at the Kathmandu District Court to refute allegations leveled agaist him this morning. The hearing was conducted at the bench of district Judge Adhikari.
Even though, Lamichhane's lawyer demanded not to keep him in the judicial custody but hand him over to his family members, Judge Adhikari ordered the judicial custody of Lamichhane citing the principle of judicial equality.
District attorneys Ram Hari Sharma and Khadindra Raj Katwal reached the District Court, Kathmandu to advocate against Lamichhane.
Two among those accused in the case, two have been released on the bail while GB Rai is at large while another Kumar Ramtel is serving a jail term in Kaski prison.
Lamichhane, who was released on Rs 6.5 million bail in the fund embezzlement case of Suryadarshan Cooperative on Thursday, Pokhara, produced himself at the Kathmandu District Court today.
