Govt to present in Parliament Bill on Operation, Use and Regulation of Social Sites

The Council of Ministers has given its approval for presenting in the Parliament the Bill Designed to Make Provisions on the Operation, Use and Regulation of Social Sites, 2025.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson, Prithvi Subba Gurung, shared this in a news conference organized at the Ministry today to make public the decisions of the Council of Ministers' meeting held on January 20.

Making the Cabinet decisions public, Minister Gurung said the Council of Ministers has already recommended to the President to summon the session of both the houses of the Federal Parliament at 1 pm, Friday on January 31 and the President has already summoned the session accordingly.

Similarly, the Council of Ministers has decided to approve the Procedure on Equalization Grant, 2081 and the Procedures on Special Grant, 2081, and to annul the following Procedures and Standards under the Ministry of Finance: Procedures on Co-Financing, 2077 and the Procedures on Cash Transfer to Absolutely Poor Families Affected by Covid-19, 2078.

The Cabinet has decided to nominate Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Shree Krishna Nepal on the position of Alternative Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and to give approval to the private sector for the development and operation of the Block B and Block C of the Simara Special Economic Zone in accordance with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The Council of Ministers' meeting has given approval for acquiring around 30 ropanis of land at Tinau Rural Municipality, Ward No. 3, Palpa district for the Butwal Water Supply Project.

According to Minister Gurung, the Cabinet has also given its approval to Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya to participate in an international conference entitled '2024: A Global Election Year – Recreation and Reclaiming of Democratic Space' to be organized on January 23-24, and the National Voters Day programme to be held on January 25 and the Republic Day Parade to be held on January 26, in New Delhi of India.
