Three Nepali nationals were killed when a train ran them over in Jalgaon, in the Indian State of Maharashtra, on Wednesday.
The deceased are identified as Nepali nationals Himu Nandaram Bishwakarma, 11, Lachhi Ram Pasi, 23, and Kamala Nabin Bhandari, 43. However, their local addresses in Nepal are yet to be ascertained.
A train traveling from Lucknow to Mumbai stopped on the railway track in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra yesterday. Meanwhile, a rumor spread that a train compartment was on fire, prompting passengers to run to the other side of the track, in panic.
Tragically, a second train, the Karnataka Express, traveling on the same track, struck the victims, resulting in the deaths of 13 people, including three Nepali citizens, according to Indian media reports.
