Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has held discussions with top leaders of the establishment faction.
In the meeting held at the President Deuba's residence in Budhanilkantha on Friday, the upcoming General Convention and contemporary political developments were discussed, according to a leader privy to the meeting. "The discussion centered around the party's General Convention and contemporary political developments," the leader told NepalKhabar.
During the meeting, President Deuba directed the leaders to focus on preparations for the General Convention. "This team must move forward unitedly. The party also needs this," the leader quoted Deuba as saying, "Prepare for the upcoming General Convention and also focus on how to make it a success."
Deuba also emphasized not forgetting the party's legacy. While giving instructions, Deuba said, "You must unite to maintain unity among the workers. Do not forget the party's political values and long-standing legacy. Fulfill your responsibilities with integrity."
Gopalman Shrestha, a leader who has supported Deuba to become president twice, informed NepalKhabar that the leaders who helped Deuba become president twice had gathered in Budhanilkantha to meet him.
"We, the leaders who have been together since the 10th General Convention and those who played a role in electing Sher Bahadur Deuba as president twice, gathered in Budhanilkantha to meet him," he said, "We discussed the party's internal politics and contemporary political developments. The discussions concluded with an agreement to continue such dialogues in the future."
Gopalman Shrestha, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Prakashman Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, Shashank Koirala, Bijaya Gachchhadar, Krishna Sitaula, Bal Krishna Khand, Umakant Chaudhary, NP Saud, and Prakash Sharan Mahat were present in the meeting.
