Nepali youths and students have staged a demonstration in front of the Indian Embassy in Lainchaur over the death of a Nepali student in India.
Holding placards, they demonstrated with slogans, "Give justice to Prakriti", "Stop the attack on Nepali students", and "Gorkhas will not tolerate injustice."
Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year B.Tech student at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Odisha, India, died.
The college claimed her death was a suicide, a claim that, along with the subsequent expulsion of Nepali students, has sparked strong criticism on social media in India.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that Nepali Embassy in New Delhi has deputed two officials to counsel Nepali students affected in Odisha.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Oli said, "Our Embassy in New Delhi has dispatched two officers to counsel Nepali students affected in Odisha. Additionally, arrangements have been made to ensure they have the option to either remain in their hostel or return home, based on their preference."
