Devotees have thronged Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu since early morning today to pay homage to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Mahasivaratri.
Marijuana, cannabis, and narcotic drugs have been banned on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple for the last seven years. This ban has been given continuity this year, too. About 5,000 security personnel have been deployed to maintain the law and order, according to Dr Milan Kumar Thapa, the member secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT).

Four major doors of Pashupatinath have been kept open since 2 AM today for the devotees to pay homage to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
About 1 million devotees are expected to visit Pashupatinath Temple this time. Pashupatinath Temple has been decked like a bride with lights and flowers.
