Purna Bahadur Dangi from Dang, who was traveling to the United States via an illegal route, has passed away in Ghana. Hikmat Thapa, former treasurer of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), confirmed Dangi's death.
"Purna Bahadur Dangi from Dang, Shantinagar, who was traveling to the United States of America via an illegal route through human traffickers, has died in Ghana," he informed through social media.
According to Thapa, Dangi's body has been kept in a hospital in Accra for post-mortem and other necessary procedures.
Dangi's death comes at a time when the UN is tightening its immigration policies. Nine Nepali nationals without proper documentation were deported to Nepal on Wednesday.
